Created for the Next House: USA Design Competition, this prototype questions the linear, monotone repetition of American Suburbia. As the typology is linear, the suburban home is instantly recognizable to the average American. However, the uniform American suburb disregards the uniqueness of the family inhabiting the space. This project offers a repeatable and alternative solution to suburbia. The clients, both designers, utilize the prototype for work, sleep, and play. This forms a unique and functional program tailored to its occupants. Through this, the prototype demonstrates that the current suburbia typology lacks the individuality to reflect the families that occupy it, and calls for a new typology that can evolve according to the clients needs.

Designed within the desert context, this prototype is specifically molded to the desert landscape, and client profession. Inspired by the Naputi culture, the prototype embodies design from nature. Surrounded by natural western beauty, the views inspire the designers with their red and orange hues, and stark contrast.
