Located on North 17th Street in North Philadelphia, this rowhome design responds to its local context within the block and the transitional homeless clients that occupy it. As both clients were displaced from their original homes, this rowhome integrates community and permanence into the design through a central, shared courtyard, flanked by each families residences. Within the residences, a lightwell loft space is created to encourage an exchange of sounds and sight between floors. The residences layers of public and private spaces create environments that foster an interweaving of the clients lives, as well as their integration into the surrounding community.
